Cherrywood Lumberman's Association

The cost and instability of the workers' compensation marketplace was an ongoing concern in the early 1990's.  With premiums increasing every year employers were searching for solutions.  As a result, the Cherrywood Lumberman's Association was created in 1994 in order to control workers' compensation costs and allow employers to begin reaping the benefits of premium dollar investments.  The Association was formed as a partnership with The PMA Companies, an insurance organization specializing in workers' compensation.
Cherrywood specifically partnered with The PMA Companies in the beginning because of its commitment to service excellence, financial stability and innovative approach to the problems within the wood products industry.  This choice has proven to be very successful, with members enjoying multiple years of premium returns and investment and interest income.

Recently we added Engle-Hambright & Davies, Inc. as a partner, too.  They are one of the largest privately owned brokers in the east.  They bring additional risk management, claims, and loss control expertise to the table.
Cherrywood's continued strategy is to provide stability and consistent return for our members' premium investments.  Our "rent-a-captive approach" maintains the goal of offering both interest and investment income each policy year.
